Wizard News > Spoiler Warnings

The Wizard News system makes great effort to shield spoilers from people who do not want to read them. To do so, whenever a link to a news story is posted on this site which contains a spoiler, it is highlighted in red. We also keep the headlines and descriptions of stories with spoilers vague so that they don't give away the stories' secrets.

The problem of spoilers has only recently been addressed by some other sites. However, the Wizard News system has protected our readers from spoilers for several years.

What are Spoilers?

Spoilers are bits of information about a book you haven't read or a movie you haven't seen, which might spoil the fun of the mystery for you if you knew this bit of information in advance (unless you're the type who goes to the back of the book and reads the ending first).

Spoilers could be extremely detrimental to the enjoyment of reading a Harry Potter book, because of the complex nature of the mysteries that J.K. Rowling weaves for us. In addition, although we most enthusiastically recommend that everyone read the books, we acknowledge that possibly not everyone who sees a movie might have read the book first.

Spoilers on Wizard News

Wizard News assumes that everyone has at this point in time read all seven Harry Potter books, and seen the first five Harry Potter movies and all of the Lord of the Rings movies. Therefore, we're currently only considering something a spoiler when it pertains to information about future Harry Potter movies.

Please remember! If you don't want spoilers to ruin your fun of upcoming books or movies, do NOT click on the red links on this system!

On the other hand, if you can't wait, please feel free to look for the red links! :-)
